The wind in the pines surrounds beautifully equipped housing, with every need carefully attended to. Our group was well supported in our own work together in this peaceful atmosphere.
Unusually quiet, the sound of a car is rare. Creative, high-quality architecture, art, décor. Very well maintained and equipped. Perfect for a family gathering or a small group.

This is the perfect place for my art and spirit retreats. We have it all here – beautiful grounds, accommodations, great art studio, access to wonderful catering, close to many places of interest in general and for painting.
Vista Verde Retreat is an exquisite sanctuary among piñon, junipers, and sage. The quiet and the beauty were restorative, and made me remember why northern New Mexico is such a special place.
Vista Verde Retreat is a very special place, located amidst purple mountains, sage, and piñon pines. The accommodations are lovely, and the attention to detail outstanding. The spacious studio is outstanding for workshops.

THAT NEW MEXICO SKY…
The setting is remote and quiet—when we watched the lunar eclipse the stars and milky way were incredibly bright, and my son, sleeping in the tipi, heard coyotes at night. But Taos, with its restaurants, shopping, galleries, organic foods market, and Taos Pueblo is only 45 minutes away, Ojo Caliente Hot Springs is a half-hour drive, and there are numerous scenic drives and hiking trails in the general area, as well as Angel Fire downhill mountain biking the other side of Taos. It was a perfect place to meet up with our children and to relax and begin our month-long holiday in the Four Corners area. And Elizabeth was so welcoming and helpful. We hope to return someday.

HEAVEN IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO
My husband discovered Vista Verde online and we booked the Q house for 10 nights at the end of September. When we arrived, we were in heaven. The house is beautifully designed, spacious and full of light, comfortably and luxuriously furnished. An ingenious system of window shades, ceiling fans, and screened windows and doors enabled us to regulate the temperature day and night. When family and friends came to join us, we were able to overflow into the nearby Stick Casita and 2 tipis. Fresh vegetables—loads of chard and basil, cherry tomatoes, and other herbs, were available to us in the greenhouse behind the Studio. We took early morning walks on a loop trail through the sagebrush, with wild asters, tiny lupine, and yellow rabbit brush in blook, and mountain views.

OUR STAY AT ELIZABETH’S RETREAT WAS AMAZING
The house and the grounds were perfect and cozy and we could not have found a better place to escape to. Elizabeth went out of her way to help direct us to many local adventures/attractions which helped make our week there even more enjoyable. We all left wanting to come back in the summer!

BEST RETREAT I’VE FOUND IN NM
We have tried a number of retreat locations in New Mexico, and this is the only one that has everything we look for: a beautiful, quiet, scenic location away from people and traffic; not too far from Albuquerque (two and a half hours); abundant outdoor opportunities nearby; a reasonable price; a full kitchen; and an owner who is responsive, friendly, and professional. The owner returns emails and phone calls promptly, has everything ready when you arrive, provides timely information regarding maps and directions, and welcomes you when you arrive with a gentle kindness that is so refreshing. I am thrilled to have found this beautiful location, managed by such a gracious and personable owner. I can’t wait to come back. At last, our search for the perfect spot is over.

I was looking for a getaway that would have everything: first-rate accommodations, solitude, yet near both good hiking and civilization. Vista Verde was all of this, and more. From my very first contact with Elizabeth, I felt immediately welcome. She is professional, hospitable, informative. I stayed at the Q house, a charming, cozy, and sunny abode nestled among piñon trees. From there, I explored Taos, the Rio Grande Gorge, and many stunning area hikes. I can’t recommend this property enough for those looking to get away for a few days– or, like me, nearly two weeks. I can’t wait to go back!

Vista Verde is a great way to enjoy the stunning beauty of Northern New Mexico’s high basin and range landscapes and magnificent skies. The Q offers an inviting, spacious and very comfortable casita with all modern amenities and grand old (and authentic) Southwestern style. I loved the flagstone and tiled floors, vigas, and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the magnificent views of nearby mountains and vast skies of cascading clouds—and of course, we enjoyed the sunsets which are spectacular. Vista Verde is a wonderful retreat to restore body and soul—and an artist’s delight. Great spot for an artist retreat. Bring binoculars for birdwatching; the birds are so beautiful! The last 2.5 miles is a dirt road so be prepared to drive slowly and take in the sights. Elizabeth is the perfect hostess and has seen to every detail with class and grace.

PERFECT GETAWAY
My daughter made my reservation for me, so I didn’t know what to expect. What an incredible surprise to arrive and find such a secluded, warm, safe, and beautifully furnished home. We were able to prepare all our meals, entertain my daughter’s family, with three small children, and have our meals and conversation around a large table, while through the windows enjoy the true beauty of the surrounding landscape. The home is maintained well and very clean. We look forward to our next visit and highly recommend staying at Vista Verde Retreat.

Elizabeth is a wonderful, generous host and has a beautiful property to share with groups and individuals. The property is in a picturesque setting in northern New Mexico and the accommodations are comfortable and well-kept. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this peaceful spot.

THE ROOMS ARE SO NICE
What a great place to be! You really can escape from everything. Elizabeth has not missed any details and you will want for nothing. The rooms are so nice in the big house and also the bunk areas. There is plenty of space for you to relax and enjoy your surroundings. She also has a great dance/pilates studio that is very spacious. I cannot wait to bring my friends to such a wonderful place. Enjoy!
